Ok, so I have had 3 LBFT clients tell me they didn’t enter our Ellamae Boudoir contest because they thought we were only doing Maternity Boudoir portrait sessions!

Not so!  Ellamae Boudoir is all about doing Boudoir Portraits Sessions, Maternity Boudoir portraits and Pin Up Parties…our version of a Girls Night Out!

Check out the new website www.ellamaeboudoir.com!

Here are a couple of my favorite boudoir portraits from our last model call!  Now do you want to enter our contest???

Before clients come for a baby portrait session, I like to send them an email outlining what to wear for their photo session.

Dressing properly plays a huge part in how the overall look of your portrait is going to be.  I like to shoot against a black backdrop so mid tone colors tend to look best.  Personally, I really like grey because it allows some separation from the background but doesn’t overtake the portrait.  This is really important when holding a newborn.  Typically, the eye is attracted to what is brightest in the image…if you are wearing white and holding a small baby, the white shirt can tend to over take the image.

Check out this beautiful little lady on her daddy’s shoulder.  The grey really works well here.  Love it!

Most clients who come to see me for the New Arrivals session really want portraits of their newborn babies in the baskets that I use and naked wearing the cute newborn hats that I have.

It can be really tough sometimes getting those portraits because the babies have to be really deep asleep so we can move them around,  put hats on, take hats off, pick them up and put them down as I change backdrops, etc.

Not sure why but all the babies who came this month did not want to go to sleep for us.  I have to say I am pretty good at putting a newborn to sleep but none of my tricks seemed to work!   With almost all of the sessions, we got the babies to go to sleep JUST long enough to get a few of the favorite poses and then the babies would wake up ready to party!  lol!

This little lady came to see me a couple of weeks ago and I just LOVE this portrait of her!  There is something about the beauty of a newborn baby and the rough texture of the basket and the hat!  Enjoy!

Probably my favorite baby portrait session is my “Precious Parts” photo session.  This session is done when babies are between 4 and 8 months old and is all about capturing their emerging personalities and those cute parts – the bare bum, the fingers, the toes, and those cute baby rolls!

I also love capturing all of their “faces”.  Babies really start showing lots of different expressions around 4 months old and I will always do a series of portraits trying to capture all those wonderful faces that the moms and dads see every day.

This little man had a ton of cute “faces” and this portrait is definately my favorite! Enjoy!
