I really enjoy doing maternity photos.  When couples come for their maternity portrait sessions the guys are either really excited to be part of it OR they are pretty quiet and have a look on their faces like “I just drove her here”

I wanted to come up with a way to make the guys feel a little more relaxed so they could be involved with the maternity photos but not look or feel uncomfortable.  SO, I came up with a fun idea of letting them play with some children’s blocks on the belly!  The blocks have the letters B-A-B-Y and are in pink and blue…very cute!

It is always lots of fun.  I give them some brief instructions on how I want the blocks stacked – stacked vertically and spelling “BABY” – and then I shoot away as they try and make their tower of blocks on a round belly.

Some guys take it super seriously and get so busy concentrating on getting the blocks to stack that they don’t pay any attention to how they are spelling the word Baby! 

I never tell the guys what colors to spell BABY in and it has been lots of fun watching how many guys will go with one color or the other.  New Daddy intuition maybe?

This photo is a perfect example…he spelt it with all pink letters and about 2 weeks later they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl!  How neat is that!
