Usually the first part of the portrait session is all about capturing you and you with your spouse. I really like this maternity pose because its fun, unposed and clients are usually pretty relaxed.

Pregnancy Portrait Heart - Lorena SmalleyA Little Creativity

Sometimes the husband is pretty nervous and will tell me he doesn’t want his portrait taken. I have a solution for that one! This next maternity portrait is a wonderful way to get hubby involved!

Golf Maternity Pose - Lorena SmalleyHave Some Fun

Another great way to get the dads involved in the maternity photography session is to let them have some fun! This dad was seriously into golf so we decided to have some fun with it. It can be as simple as that!

Pool Anyone?

Maternity Photo Idea, Billiards - Lorena Smalley

Another dad who came with his wife for decided to have some fun by capturing all of his hobbies. He loved to play pool so with baby number one, he brought a pool ball with the number 1 on it. When their second baby was set to arrive…you guessed it…he brought the pool ball with number 2 on it. Love it!!!

Special Lighting

The 2nd half of the session is all about capturing the beauty of the pregnancy and your belly.

Creative lighting and a variety of poses can be used to hide things like stretch marks and really help to put the focus on the beauty and shape of the belly.

Last of all, enjoy your maternity photo session! It should be relaxed and easy with a little bit of fun mixed in!
