“New Arrivals” – Newborns as Art

I have specialized in baby photography for 8 years now and I still love it. “Baby posing” is something I have been interested in for a while now and so a couple of months ago I made the decision to go to Toronto and do a workshop. I wanted to see if this style of photography was something that I would enjoy doing and if I could work it into the style of photography that I do.

The workshop was great and I love the look of the textured backgrounds that contrast against the baby’s soft skin! It was also interesting for me to work with the lighter backgrounds as I have always shot against a black backdrop. So, I have spent the last few days buying props, newborn hats, beautiful blankets, and new backdrops to start my latest venture…. New Arrivals. Spring is here and that means we get to go outdoors! I love doing outdoor portraits and just letting the little ones explore and be themselves. Alot of times I am 20 or so feet away just sitting back and watching them walk down a path or play in the grass.

My favorite outdoor portraits are like this one…unposed and truly capturing a moment in time. This little lady has been a client of mine since she was a baby. I have been very fortunate to photograph her brother, then her and now I am busy capturing her twin sisters’ first year! Enjoy!

My Favourite Maternity Pose

This maternity pose is probably my favorite. It is a wonderful way to show the belly, its a very flattering pose and best of all, my clients love the photos it produces. For this pose, the client is still wearing underwear, but with some clever positioning of the arms and hands, it looks as though they are naked.

One thing I like to stress to potential clients is that here at LittleBumsFingerandToes Photography, we will only do maternity poses if our clients are comfortable with them. I have a variety of maternity photos on this website, so if your curious of the types of maternity shots I can do, just take a tour.
